At Icesi university it’s really important to know what the students’ expectations at the beginning of the semester are. That is the reason why our students talked about this subject during the session led by the E.L Center. These are some of them.

Discovering new realities

 According to students’ personal experiences and opinions, English allows you to connect with different cultures of the world, visiting other countries allows them to contrast how other societies behave, which for others might come as a shock when they discover that certain expressions or costumes for them can be rejected by citizens from other nations of the world.  That’s why students consider that MATILEO is a great start on facing obstacles related to the English language in disciplinary matters, such as reaching out to new business opportunities by speaking the lingua franca. Our opportunities are exponentially increased when a potential employee wants to be discovered by bigger companies or take on their own journey as global entrepreneurs. So, students are looking forward to finding practical uses for learning English as their second language to complement their competence in meeting new people and being more successful.
