Abstract

Speak about cities, means speak about the multiplicity of ways in which this social space is lived, felt and appropriate. This is why we dedicate these pages to the voices -and signs- of three Deaf people who will help us imagine how the city is experienced from the community, identity and Deaf culture of Cali.

We live in a reality in which being citizens of the same country, or the same city, does not always imply having access to the same rights. For many populations, such as the Deaf Community, being able to access basic health, education, transportation, sports, or information services requires a long process of struggle and political advocacy.

To conclude this introduction, we clarifying that what will be found below in a continuous text that brings together by topic the responses constructed by the members of the Association of the Deaf of Cali (ASORCALI). The intention of presenting it in this way, and not in the question-answer format, is to highlight or give prominence to the words of those who were interviewed.
