Resumo

Esse artigo teve como objetivo ana­lisar três modelos teóricos para explicar os processos de mudança organizacional a partir da perspec­tiva do controle externo, sendo elas: a teoria contingente, a teoria de de­pendência de recursos e a teoria da ecologia populacional. O trabalho, de caráter teórico e descritivo e baseado em uma rigorosa revisão bibliográ­fica, permitiu fornecer um quadro de propostas de forma a integrar elementos comuns entre as teorias assinaladas e fornecer informações para a compreensão da mudança perante as circunstâncias do meio ambiente. As conclusões mais rele­vantes encontram uma complemen­taridade entre os diferentes modelos, permitindo explicar segundo as pers­pectivas abordadas, o impacto das mudanças na concepção estrutural, no comportamento e no desempenho organizacional.
