Abstract

The article seeks to show the main causes and economic effects of the international labor migration. Leaving of the neoclassical theory of the international trade shows as the international mobility of labor generates economic growth in the country destination when increasing the quantity of the intensive factor in the good that it exports (effect Rybczynski) and in the source country, when increasing the income of the families and therefore the consumption, and/or when increasing the productive investment using the repatriated remittances. Keeping in mind the relevance of the remittances for the economic development, is necessary starting from the public political to reduce the current transaction costs, among other barriers that impede a major flow of remittances.
