The demand for “general” Internal Medicine Specialists has grown, given he or she is the specialist that follows in the complexity scale for adult care, after the general doctor, logical structure and practice which should follow the EPS in the context of law 100. The extensive training and practice for internal medicine specialists in these environments are completed by specialists that largely generate the solution for adult diseases which are a real public health problem. The internal medicine specialist is a specialist who is able to solve most medical situations in the adult and also handle many complications in surgical patients. Currently, Colombia has a significant deficit of internal medicine specialists which guarantees a future job market. Methodology
The Internal Medicine Specialization is exclusive commitment and full time, and requires the development of a schedule during training which includes theoretical-practical activities with permanent supervision from professors. The theoretical study is based on seminars, topic reviews, case reviews, and review clubs, among others.
The practical component is completed basically in conjunction with the student’s professors, in the outpatient clinic, and in inpatient hospital rooms, the emergency room, and intensive care. Additionally, skills are acquired for practicing procedures appropriate to the specialization.

The program has a duration of 3 years with exclusive full time commitment.
Degree granted
Universidad Icesi confers the degree of Specialist in Internal Medicine to all who satisfactorily complete all the program requirements.
